Get Involved

Community engagement is the name of the game here. The town of Truckee and the developers of the Brockway Collective need to know that we have thoughts about the proposed development. These are valid concerns that will affect those of us that have lived here for years, as well as those that might choose to live in the neighborhood in the future.

#1 – Education

Share this site with your friends so they know about our concerns. People hear “affordable housing” and immediately jump to the conclusion “Truckee needs more housing” without thinking about the possible downsides of continuous overdevelopment. We don’t have an advertising budget here. Help us by sharing this site with friends and neighbors, even if they don’t live right in Sierra Meadows. Overdevelopment changes our town for everyone.

#2 – Go To Meetings

Currently the Brockway Collective is at the planning and development stage. Our best option at this time is direct human contact with town planners and the planning commission at public meetings.

The next scheduled public meeting is: Developer Sponsored Community Meeting 10/22

#3 – Consider E-Mail Contacts

The word we are getting from the town is that they have received a lot of email already about the project, much of it stating the same concerns. That said, they took on the position of being an elected or hired official, and they should hear your concerns. If you have concerns that you think they need to hear, here’s a list of contacts:

If your email is in regards to a specific meeting agenda item, then you should consider using the public comment form. Those submissions become a part of the “public record” and may be seen by other people. This form is not intended for contacting the council, commission or staff for items not on the agenda. https://portal.laserfiche.com/k4088/forms/tpYPx

#4 Contribute To This Site

Adding your thoughts here at Protect Sierra Meadows is an easy way to let people know what you are thinking. Here are some suggestions:

• The most obvious way to contribute is by commenting or adding your thoughts to blog posts. You will not get “in trouble” or otherwise punished for participation. You are welcome to contribute comments under a pseudonym.

• That said, comments may be moderated with a heavy hand. If you’re just pro development and want to build, build, build for any reason – go ahead and pay someone to make your own web page. We are not going to publish your comments. We know haters are going to hate anyways.

• If you have general commentary, you can use the form below to contact the team at Protect Sierra Meadows.

• If you are interested in contributing a blog post with your thoughts, give a us a quick summary in the contact form below and we will get back to you.

• If you are using our contact form to send negative commentary or insults – you will have no powder days this winter, you will have a tire blowout on your next MTB ride and other karmic consequences.
